Is it possible to replace stock thermo on Excel 20?

Postby ZUL » 27 May 2011, 10:49

Hello

I was wondering if anyone has replaced their stock thermo on their Excel? I've seen the posts about adding another one but I am curious about replacing the existing one.

Thanks

Yes it can be replaced there is a ProQ part available for this, try the link below

Alternatively one of the other members on her (sorry name escapes me) has sold ProQ's in the past so may have parts available

I'm not sure if you can get a Tell Tru that will fit but when cooking on my kettle i normally stick a thermometer through one of the holes in the vent.

Although for what you'd need to spend to get a good replacement Bi-metal thermometer, i'd think you'd be not far off the cost of a Maverick. That way you'll get temp's from the grill level which is always best as it's were your food is.

I'm with Ed, a decent Tel Tru will cost about £35 landed here in the UK. You can get a Mav for only a little more and IMHO it's a more useful device.
