Sauce/Condiments for Burgers.
Hello, First post here.....
After years of bbq'ing ive been asked to be the cook at a bbq next month.
Due the amount of people, the main offering is going to be "posh" burgers.
However i cannot come up with any ideas of a sauce to make, want a thick-ish sauce.
Ideas please.

A good one I sometimes do is to get a bottle of cheapish BBQ sauce (nothing too spicy if lots of kids there) and add a splash of cider vinegar, some honey and some apple juice. It will be quite thin once you do this, but then put in a pan, bring to a simmer and turn the heat down to quite low. Let is sit on low for a couple of hours while it reduces and thickens.
My other favourite on a burger is a posh spicy tomatoe chutney, but kids probably won't be too keen on that.

Can I get the recipe for the tom chutney please. How thick would the bbq come back down to?

Keep checking the BBQ sauce until it is the thickness you want. I'd say 1 to 2 hrs.
The chutney I have always bought rather than made from scratch. My mother in law made a good chilli tomato chutney but unfortunately she has gone to the great BBQ in the sky now and I don't have the recipe.

I use my top secret Horsey Sauce, which will now no longer be a secret!
1/4 cup Mayo
1tblsp ketchup
1 tbsp creamed horseradish
1/4 tsp garlic powder and onion powder
1 tsp lemon juice
Salt and pepper.
Mix, leave for at least 2 hours then slap it on.

Have a read of this. It looks simple but is excellent.
