A good old British favourite made with fresh apples from our neighbour's tree - Turned out lovely!!

The Filling

5oz Golden Caster Sugar
1 tsp Ground Cinnamon
2 tsp Corn Flour
600g Bramley Coking apples – Cored and sliced

The Pastry

400g Plain Flour
2 tbsp Golden Caster Sugar
1 Lemon zest
1 Large egg beaten with 2 tbsp cold water
1 egg to glaze

Keep 1/3 of the pastry for the pie lid

Cook at 180C/200C for 45 - 60 mins until browned to your taste.

Does it taste much different from an oven cook?

Can't get my head around deserts in a bbq. Lol. I assume there's no wood used but...

To be perfectly honest I was nervous of tainting the flavour after having done a double header of Pork, roast veg, tatties and yorkie puds beforehand. I needn't have worried, it tasted lovely and yes it was different but in a nice way. We served up the mains, lobbed in the pie and it was ready once everyone had finished.

My missus does deserts and cakes on the BBQ, definitely no wood. There is a different taste as Stu has said, but more importantly to us, is the continuing of the cooking outside, so everyone is together.

Sounds intriguing! Maybe I'll give it a go one day.
