This year's weber briquettes

Postby DeepThought » 14 Mar 2016, 18:10

Hi

Has anyone tried the latest weber briquettes that are now available in the DIY shops?

Something just isn't the same. They light a lot quicker and quite worryingly seem to burn quicker too. Also the distinctive yellow ash they produced is now white.

Just wondered if anyone else had noticed any difference and whether you think they're still as good. They have always been my go-to brand for really long cooks because they burn so clean and slowly.

Any thoughts?

Not used them but a few people on the BBBQS facebook page aren't happy with them for the same reason you mentioned - burn to quick and they have seen big temp spikes too.

I'll give them a couple more chances, otherwise it's heat beads for me.

Are there any other briquettes available that don't kick out that acrid smoke that taints the food? Whether I get cheap ones or not all the others seem to have the same problem.
