Pit temp controller on a weber kettle

Postby mister dead » 19 Aug 2015, 20:41

Does anyone use a pit temp controller on a weber kettle? Is it worth it? Is there anything I need to bear in mind before shelling out on one?
Thanks for your help.

I believe the party q works on kettles too. Not sure if you can get it in the UK. Personally I found the standard vents to be fine.

Thanks, I was mainly thinking about doing overnight cooks and getting some sleep.

I am new to this and have just discovered the world of UDS... I may try this route instead!

I have the bbq guru CyberQ wifi, you can use it on a kettle, but if you have a one touch then you need to drill a hole in the base to attach the adaptor to. If you have a kettle without the one touch system and the standard vents then no drilling is needed.

The iQ110 works well on a kettle, just need some heat proof tape to blank off the other two vent slits

Not sure I'd do an overnight on a kettle. I have a UDS and it is the dogs danglies. :)
Very pleased with mine.

Me too. Holds temp very well overnight. You could probably build one for the cost of a pit controller.

The added bonus being you get loads more space for meat!
