Weber Steakhouse Restaurant Charcoal

Hi Guys,

I'm still getting to grips with smoking and I recently purchased some Weber Steakhouse Restaurant Charcoal, I wanted to see if anyone has any experience with this when smoking. I have a feeling that this is the wrong type of charcoal to do long smokes with.

I have been using Big Green Egg Lump Charcoal which has served me good but I wanted to see if there was anything else out there. I'm not really into using Briquettes.

Thanks in advance

Michael

Hi Michael, I use lump wood all the time for smoking as you dont get any nasty chemical taste. I've had 10 plus hours out of a load. So long as your air control is good it should be tickety boo.

The only briquettes I use are weber ones.

I've just switched to heat beads from Webber briquettes. No foul smoke or flavours and 14 to 16 hour cook times in my WSM no problem. That said, I didn't have flavour problems from Webber either and got good long cook times there too.
