UDS - Recommendations for oil drum suppliers?

Postby guitarbloke » 18 Aug 2015, 12:24

Can anyone recommend a company in the UK that sells reasonably priced drums which would be suitable for a UDS?

I work for an oil company and when we supply product in drums it's a real pain to do anything with the drums as they are considered hazardous. We don't collect them and rely on the customer to dispose of them.

I would think if you ask around likely places to use larger quantities of oil delivered in drums you'd probably get them for nothing. Do you live near a docks or port?

Just sent them a message asking for an unlined one.

Yeah, mine arrived next day delivery in a mahoosive cardboard box!
Just make sure to message them asking if they have any unlined ones available, saves you a lot of hassle.

Yes J&S SIMCOX LTD is the way to go. They sell unlined drums which is amazing, I've not seen those anywhere else.

With an unlined drum and all the parts I reckon you can build a UDS in an afternoon (apart from painting).

Pretty much what i did, although my second test burn i got a little carried away and had a 6' flame coming out of the top! Got so hot i burnt off most of the exterior paint so i'm now looking at getting it shotblasted.
