Anyone know where I can get hold of decent lumpwood charcoal

Postby Essex Bloke » 07 Sep 2010, 16:22

Hello,

I live on the Essex/London border and am having problems getting hold of some decent lumpwood charcoal. Makro seems to have sold out and won't be restocking and the local petrol station stuff makes my chimney starter look like a firework ! Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, EB.

Hello EB,

If you have a Makro or a Bookers near you then they should stock restaurant grade lump in 12kg bags.

I use that all year round.

Cheers

I've had the same issue trying to get some good Lumpwood charcoal.

I found some Big K at my local garden centre and also a load of other bbq bits which were half price where it's end of season.

The Big K was good enough and without the fireworks.

Here's a link for them and you can see if they've got a store near you.

Many, many thanks chaps. I had never heard of bookers before and they have sorted me out. Here's to autumnal smoking and bbq'ing! Cheers once again, you have been a great help.

Cool,

Let us know how you get on with it. Was it the blue bag?

Cheers

I've now found a place that delivers premium restaurant grade lumpwood charcoal to your door free within London Borough postocdes for orders over 40 quid. Here is the website if it helps anyone:

I'll let you know good it is to cook with in the next few weeks.

Cheers
