Tbh, it isnt the point of wanting to cook for one hour solid, is more the point people say those briquettes are good for three hours and i see these recipes where people are doing roasts and stuff and supposedly all on one load of coals - that is more my point that i am struggling to cook basic food ...

Am aiming to get 200c for at least an hour
All vents fully open and punched out
I guess i need to try again, wait a little longer withe chimney and see the results
Is really frustrating as i want the charcoal to work for me and not just give up and use the gas alternative permanently

Burnt2acrisp - am sure the vents are fully open at the bottom, when i look from above i can see th slots. I am also using the bigger chimney

Example tonight..... Chimney starter, all good..... About 210 degrees when i started..... Put chicken wings on, more indirect than direct, 15 mins later burgers and sausages, temp plumeted to 150 quicky (no idea why) - lifeted lid, did some open cooking, got things cooked open lid and then finished ...

as just mentioned I have a weber gas and also charcoal bbq (mastertouch 57cm)
