Re: Newbie update

Unfortunately I didn't manage to get any jalapeños this time. There's an international food shop near me on leith walk that does them though so I'm definitely going to give them a try next time :)

Re: Newbie update

I stay in Edinburgh, but as its only a small flat that I live in I don't really have the chance to bbq much, so I keep my smoker at my parents' over the bridge in Fife. It's only a short drive for when I want to cook something... Which will be soon :)

This is a great forum for you to help with ...

Re: Newbie update

Definitely a challenge so far, but I'm slowly getting there.

I have decided not to bother with supermarket meat - unless it's crazy cheap - as the quality is night and day.

Bring on tomorrow for my next attempt :)

Newbie update

Hi guys,

Around 6 months ago or so I asked for advice on buying a smoker/barbecue. In the end, I ended up going with a ProQ Frontier Elite. I just though I would give a wee update to how I'm getting on.

Obviously, the predictably unpredictable Scottish weather, and my general lack of time has ...

Re: Smoker buying advice

Thanks again guys.

The Maverick has arrived, just need to wait for the heat beads then I'll have another go. I've got a couple rib racks in the freezer ready to go. Roll on next weekend :D

Re: Smoker buying advice

Thanks for all the advice guys. It's all appreciated.

In then end, I decided to go ahead and buy a ProQ Frontier Elite over the Weber kettle. There were a few reasons for this but I won't bore you with the details...

Anyway, it arrived at the end of last week, so Sunday was spent putting it ...

Re: Smoker buying advice

The Weber 57cm is on sale in B&Q for £80 now which is well within my so-called budget and at £180 less than my favoured choice (the ProQ Frontier Elite) it's looking like a good option. I am more interested in smoking meat, both hot and cold as I really love smoked meat and cheese, than barbecuing ...

Re: Smoker buying advice

Tiny, if anyone has summed up why people should steer clear of a Landmann, it is you.

I thank you sir :)

Re: Smoker buying advice

Hi guys,

Thanks for the replies and great advice.

I realise now that I was being naive at budget I was looking at. This was based on the Landmann which of course I will not be going for now. I am definitely prepared to pay more..

So the options appear to be the Weber kettle, WSM which probably ...

Smoker buying advice

Hi all,

I have been wanting to get a smoker for a while now and finally decided to do something about it. I had decided on getting a Landmann Tennessee and have done a lot of research on modifications required to get them smoking properly etc. However, after stumbling upon this forum this morning I ...
