Camping with a Smoky Joe

I decided to get a little weber smoky joe for a recent camping trip, had a great time using it. Highlights were a nice rack of ribs, lamb kebebs and a Monkfish curry!

Monkfish Curry

Ribs, Kebabs, Chillies and Spuds!

For the price and size I'm very impressed with this little BBQ :D

Re: Thinking about entering a chili cook off

Any idea if there's a 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc Steve? I'm guessing it will be the same as the reading one you won.
I'd love more than anything not to come last :D but will never know if its just 1st place, then everyone else.

BTW I'm 'shutter wide open' & 'Chilli Hunter' on Face book

Re: Thinking about entering a chili cook off

Yep its Upton Cheyney Steve, seems a little scary though, all this talk of 'teams' and stuff. It'll be just me, a camping stove and a weber, jump in at the deep end I say!

Thinking about entering a chili cook off

This is the first time I've done anything like this and the time scale has become an issue.
At home I smoke a pork shoulder and add it to my chili, this competition allows ...

Wood chip 'container'

So far while smoking I've been wrapping my wood chips in silver foil with a few rips and throwing them on the coals. I've recently seen small cast iron pots designed for this, what does everyone else use? I want to stop using so much foil for this if I can.

Are these cast iron pots any good, would ...
