Anyone have one they don't want, or know where I can get the kit in the UK?
Cheers

Charcoal clearance bargains
What with the last week of August looking like it's not going to be non-stop rain, it seems like some of the big retailers are trying to shift their remaining summer charcoal supplies. Anyone spotted any good bargains?

Re: Anyone used greatbritishmeat.com?
Well I let them know what was wrong and was told..
"We've started selling these based on customer feedback of what they wanted from us. If we're getting it wrong then we absolutely need to know, but we haven't had other complaints on these, so we'll wait and see what other customers think."

Re: Anyone used greatbritishmeat.com?
Got mine today too and am quite disappointed too. The 'boston butt' is just a bog standard boned pork shoulder, with the skin left on and annoyingly it was tightly scored and so a bitch to get off. Basically, it was exactly the same as you'd get from the supermarket, as were the ribs which were just ...

Anyone used greatbritishmeat.com?
Hiya,
Just stumbled across these guys, who seem to have very reasonable prices and do some proper cue cuts: m
Eg, 3kg boston butt £16.50, 2kg st louis cut ribs £10, 2kg brisket £16. Free delivery over £50.
Those seem more like supermarket prices that the horribly expensive butchers I'm lumped ...

Re: What cut of lamb is this..?
Thanks power, sounds like you know your meat!
Anyone have any thoughts on whether this smoked/braised lamb recipe would work well with this cut?

I made it last year with a shoulder and it was just superb. Not sure how well a leg slow-cooks though?
Cheers
Pete

They're both the same bit of meat - just different sides!

What cut of lamb is this..?
Bit of a silly question, but I'm not entirely sure...! I bought a whole lamb last year which came ready-butchered and frozen. I've already had something that appeared to be leg and something that appeared to be shoulder, but I'm still left with this sizeable joint which I suspect is a second ...

Re: Using a chimney starter..
Seven fence panels and a shed roof down, but at least my house stayed dry which plenty round here didn't so I can't complain.
Will have to keep my eye out for some out-of-season (pfft!) charcoal bargains!

Re: Using a chimney starter..
Thanks for the tips all. Unfortunately the storms of late have taken the felt off my shed roof and my charcoal is pissing wet so it'll be a while before I can judge how well it works
